Neglected!

Eeps, yeah, I've neglected this blog. Dunno, I guess I just find other more interesting things to do online that I always forget to update this thing. But petting it now, shush, it's ok baby, I'm blogging...

Last Saturday DS and I went to my new knitty friend's house. It is such a relief to find someone around here with whom you have a common interest with. We watched a couple of movies that I brought over, knitted peacefully while drinking this awesome blueberry tea that I MUST get my hands on next time I'm around Target. DS played with their dog and ran around with his usual unstoppable energizer bunny personality finally to settle down and bug M's hubby as he played on the puter. M said that DS wore the poor puppy out and that she passed out on her bed, lol.

You know you're doing your job well when you suck others into your world :) Aside from M, I've managed to cross over a couple of others into the spinning craze. So yep, they are happily becoming fiber fiends. *takes a bow, all the while laughing evilly... muahahaha* Now I need to put together more spindle kits, as my shop is out of them.

This past Sunday (was it? seems like much more time has passed) I updated the shop again. This time with 110 fibers, not as much as the last update, but it sure did seem like it was heck of a lot more. I have no idea why!

Here they are all group together, aren't they just darling? ;)

To a fiber lover, they are like a pile of leaves to children, you want to just jump right in and roll...

Of course, much to my delight, a plurk plug by MissViolet of the legendary Lime & Violet sent a wave of fiber enthusiasts to my virtual shop door and just about trampled me - but in a good way :) [p.s. if you're not already a fan of L&V you must check out their podcasts, they're a hoot (and you'll likely get hooked; by the way FF has a plug on episode 45, from way back in Sept07)!]

I got in more combed top stock - rambouillet & organic merino. I'm still hoping to hear back from suppliers in Canada and possibly Australia for some unique blends. I want to bring something to the shop that is hard to find elsewhere. At least right now I have the sw merino/seacell and the rambouillet which is not out there as much as some of the others. Surprisingly the soysilk/wool didn't go as quickly as I thought it would, but I'm still hopeful :)

Waiting for AB to send out the specials before I reorder some merino/silk and merino/bamboo and a couple of others. I won't buy those in bulk as the minimum is 40-60 lbs and well... 1) can't afford it, and 2) don't think I can handle that much inventory right now, I have enough as it is. So for now it'll just have to be small batches.

Dyed up some more rambo last night, just 13 of them, they're currently air drying w/out the fan, didn't feel like plugging it in since I still have to run the long a$$ extension cord (it's the garden type), from the bedroom outlet since the outlet in the bathroom died - and yep I tried the breaker, no such luck. Also looked for one of those test/reset buttons on one of the outlets, but could not locate one.

Speaking of electricity, I wish the weather would cool down some so I wouldn't have to run the AC so darn much, our bill this month was $65 more than last month! Aargh!

Back on track...

For TdF I am behind, I didn't spin at all last week, only spun a little today. Still working on that thin spin sw mer/ten. I'm maybe a little over half way done, lol!

On the knitting front, finished one of the RPM socks

and started the 2nd one (what I was knitting at M's house), but before I finished the 2nd of the pair I started a new pair :) and finished one sock

This one uses my Curiosity Stone handpainted yarn from my LuxeSavvy collection (merino/silk/cashmere) and the Broadripple Sock Pattern from Knitty (substituted w/short row heel and pointy toe).

Yes, I have second sock syndrome, can't help it! Once I knit one sock, I already know what the 2nd sock is going to look like, lol so the anticipation is spent, so I want to do something new. But I am semi-determined to eventually finish the 2nd socks for the ones above.

I got me some sock blanks to test out, basically a sock blank is a knitted sheet that you can dye up, then knit socks 2 at a time, from the sheet (by frogging) and the socks will come out like the colorway pattern on the sock blank (of course a little different depending on gauge and pattern).

Oh, last weekend we also went to go see The Dark Knight and The Happening at the drive-in (yes, we're addicted). The Dark Knight was awesome! Heath Leger did such an unbelievable job as the Joker, it is just so sad that he's gone. The Happening was just ok, some corny parts, and some parts where you could actually see the microphone bobbing at the top of the screen. For an M. Night Shyamalan film it was rather disappointing.

This weekend the only thing new on screen is Step Brother, which would probably be best to just see when it comes out on DVD, so we're not going this time. DS has been wanting to see Center of the Earth, so we were hoping it would be playing there this weekend, but nope.

Anyway, that's all I can think of for now.
