Purses, fleeces, wuzzles, and more...

New purses fresh off the needle:

Oddkin Purse

Pattern from scratch (knit as I go along type :), but I wrote it down, so hopefully I can write it out properly). Bottom uses the Oddkin handspun www.flickr.com/photos/tisjewelart/tags/oddkin/, top portion uses handspun black corriedale wool knit w/a 2-stranded designer combo yarn (multi-colored commercial nylon yarn & fuzzy cobweb-weight mohair yarn). Can't recall where I got the broach. I also made a small coin pouch/wallet type thing, but it needs a zipper, it was knit with the same handspun corriedale & 2-stranded designer combo yarns as the top of the bag, and the same lining.

Naughty But Nice Purse

knit from Lexi's (pluckyfluff) and my handspuns for the spin challenge #1

Lexi's bubbles (bubble wrap) deflated. :( ah well.

Recap the challenge (and you can see our yarns and the materials that went in them - 1st yarn set Lexi's and 6th-ish yarn set mine): yarnmuseum.com/gallery_shows_changing/spinchallenge1_gall...

Scoured and jar-dyed up some Jacob & Texel wool fleeces the other day. I love jar-dyeing it's so easy to do and not as messy. I may do some more as I still have tons of raw fleeces left.

Petals in the Moss - 5oz Jacob wool (sold):

Paint the Sky - 2 4oz lots of Texel wool (1 lot still available):

I finished my Wuzzlefubber for Spin Challenge #2. What I now call my "WHAT!? THE FUZZLE!!", hahahaha! She really needs a face & some arms, but it wasn't in my original plans, so she goes face & armless for now. Hard to tell really what the hell it is by the photos.

The other entries seem to look a lot more like their drawings than mine, which is cool with me :) I love seeing how everyone interprets a challenge. I like Liz's monster and the one below it the octopus, so it will be a tough decision. The voting process is on the 28th. Here's the challenge details if you missed it: clickity click

For September's Fiber Fix, this is what subscribers received (similar w/slight variances), though the photo is missing the hand-dyed bombyx silk cocoons. All 4 batts are are all similar, but you're just seeing them folded in half and 2 in front and 2 in the back rolled with the different half showing.

Contents- natural: alpaca, lincoln, soy silk, tussah silk, seacell, polypay; superwash merino, white bamboo, white ingeo, firestar, hand-dyed: bombyx, rambouillet, merino, bfl, australian merino, north country cheviot, mill ends, targhee

I have an extra set (not including one I kept for myself this time), so might do a contest or something with it -- anyone interested in a contest? :) If so go vote: click here

Finally, I got the shop updated, not with products, but service-wise, added a flat rate, so there's that extra choice, now can accept credit cards without having to go through paypal, the shopping cart is now securer with SSL, and I replaced the latest updates portion of the shop with an embedded blog, so I can easily update it and archive the posts. Good stuff, I tell ya! :D

On other things, I was so bummed tonight as there were three shows on that I wanted to see, but they were all on AT THE SAME TIME! (no I don't have Tivo, very sad I know) :( And we couldn't figure out how to record on our VCR/DVD player, even with the darn manual (the DVD player portion doesn't work anymore), grumbles. So ended up just watching Ghost Hunters. Now I have to wait until the full versions of Bionic Woman and Kitchen Nightmares (I think this one I can watch already) are available on the station websites and watch it online - not fun since the buffering often gets interrupted (every couple of minutes, making a 1/2 hour show into 2 hours, lol). AARGH!

Anywhooo, I must go now as I have some carding to do for some custom orders, wish me luck!
